Suva City is a cosmopolitan city with over 80,000 people. The local produce market is one of the highlights, especially on a Saturday morning when locals from the surrounding hills come to sell their produce.<br>
<br>
Cumming Street is the heart of Suva shopping with original colonial buildings. Mark Street was the original shopping and trades centre of Suva, with its old colonial style buildings. The Flame Tree at Cumming Street is a centre for market sellers and meeting people. Nubukalou Creek is the original settlement for European traders and today is a popular spot for street traders. Victoria Parade and home to many offices, government departments and regional organizations.<br>
<br>
Suva wharf is often visited by large cruise liners that call in to town for the day after being greeted by a 50-strong Marching Band, in true colonial fashion. The harbour has wonderul mounatin views. The mountains around Suva are rugged with small fishing villages along the coast and remote highland villages inland. The Bay of Islands outside the suburb of Lami Town is a pleasant spot to sit back and relax.<br>
<br>
The University of the South Pacific campus and the National Stadium are about 10-minutes drive from downtown. Nukulau Island offshore from the University is the prison island of convicted coup plotter George Speight.<br>
<br>
The Old Parliament clock face which is now stuck on "Fiji Time". The Presidential Palace, built in 1928 for the then British governor, is now home to Fiji's president. Fijian Guards march outside the Presidential Palace. Parliament Building was the location of the 2000 coup.<br>
