Taveuni's coastline is of classic volcanic shape. The Garden Island is one of the youngest islands in Fiji and with Uluiqalau at 1,241 metres high, has the country's second highest point. The 180 degree of longitude, where each new day begins, passes directly through Taveuni, one of only three places in the world where it dissects land and the most accessible In one step, you can jump from today to yesterday and back again. <br>

There are several small restaurants and shops as well as holiday homes at Matei Airport. Islands off the coast at Matei Airport are good snorkelling spots. Prince Charles Beach 1 km south of the airport. Several resorts are set across the road from the beach including Maravu Plantation and Bibi Hideaway. Waitavala Sliding Rocks, ten minutes walk from Waiyevo Settlement, is a natural water chute where you can slide from the top into a deep bubbling pool. <br>

Waitabu Village, part of Bouma National Park where you can snorkel in the protected marine reserve. Wainibau Falls at the end of the Lavena Coastal Walk is a secluded spot enclosed by steep cliffs and inaccessible other than by swimming.<br>
