Getting Around

The local travel network in Fiji is extremely good. Regular flights connect Nadi and Suva on the main island and take 35-minutes. A much cheaper option (only F$12) and more scenic is to take the express bus along the Queens Highway which takes about 4-hours. Taxis around Nadi charge per run (F$8-10 from the airport to Town). There are half a dozen car hire companies with bases in Nadi and Suva. Car hire costs about F$100 per day for an economy car all inclusive.

Two local airlines serve 13 island airports from either Nadi or Suva. Flights to the tourist destinations run on a daily basis. Flights are from F$400 return from Nadi to the Northern Islands and F$300 return from Nadi to the Southern Islands. The resort islands of Mana and Malolo Lailai in the Mamanucas are visited each about a dozen times a day with the 10-minute flights costing from F$80 return.

Two sea-plane companies and a helicopter company offer transfers throughout the group.

Fast passenger ferries connect Nadi with the Mamanuca Group (several runs per day from 9am to 4pm) and Yasawa Group (daily service). There's a daily service also to Vanua Levu and Ovalau and a fortnightly ferry service to the Northern Islands and Southern Islands.

Cargo boats visit the outer islands on a irregular service, sometimes just one a month, but take passengers on deck or in air-conditioned cabins.
