Lautoka has extensive shopping, good local style restaurants and a large fresh produce market that usually spills over into the streets. Less touristy than Nadi, it is a good place to mingle. Downtown Lautoka is often a mad rush of traffic and people. Koronayitu National Park, 30-minutes drive from Lautoka, offers great walking trails and panoramic views. The grassland trail from Abaca Village to Savuione Waterfall. This walks offers a panorama of five waterfalls in the distance. The Ba mountain ridge offers great views and is the division of tropical rainforest on the wet eastern side and the dry hills on the western side. The market at Ba Town. Ba has a population of 15,000, mostly Indians and the surrounding sugar cane fields provide much of the regions income. The Ba River beside the picturesque village of Navala. There are many mountain trails in this region offering spectacular views. The thatch village of Navala, high up in the Ba Highlands, is in a spectacular mountain setting. Navala Village which has over 200 houses made entirely from traditional materials. River rafting either in traditional bamboo bilibili's or modern rubber rafts takes you to places seldom visited. The Kings Highway west of Rakiraki passes stunning mountain scenery including views of the nakauvudra Range. The inland town of Rakiraki or Vaileka as it is officially known, is distinctly a sugar cane town with a large working sugar mill. The coast west of Rakiraki viewed from the main Kings Highway. The coastline here is mostly mangroves and inaccessible. The small island of Nananu-i-Ra off the coast from Rakiraki has beautiful sandy beaches along most of its coastline. There are several budget resorts here. The long stretch of white sand beach on the north coast of Nananu-i-Ra. View across Nananu-i-Ra island towards the coast of Viti Levu. The island has gentle grassy hills that are great for exploring and have several archaeological sites. The village of Navai, high up on the Nakauvudra Range with views to Mt. Tomainivi, Fiji highest point at 1,323 metres. Big views are found throughout the central highlands - the road is sealed only at steep inclines otherwise it is a rough ride along dirt roads suited for 4WD vehicles only. Mountain view from the Nausori Highlands Road along the Nadi River. The journey into the Highlands is extremely scenic. There are stunning views over the Medracuvu Mountain Range from the Naitasiri Road. Such is the remote nature of this environment that locals travel by horseback along the Waidina River between village and plantation. The village of Nauluvatu lies across the Waidina River and cut off from the outside world. Sweeping view across virgin rainforest in the central highlands. This remote region is seldom visited by tourists and requires local guides. Village of Balea, high up in the mountains on the Wainimala River, some three hours by road from Suva. Although snorkelling is not good off the coast, there is some of the country's best snorkelling and dive sights as well as fishing in the deep passage around Beqa. View to the island of Beqa from Pacific Harbour, where world class fishing, diving and surfing can be found. The traditional village outside Naboro prison was a rehabilitation project initiated by ex-inmates. Dalo plantations and rice fields with the Namosi Mountains in the distance.
